2021 Summer Announcements

The Sparkman Band is preparing for another great season in 2021.  Please read the following links and schedule carefully.  Schedules are posted below according to the student’s assignment within the band.

Communication

In order for students to be informed with events over the summer we ask that they join our REMIND classroom and the Google Classroom according to the group they are associated. We do not publicly give instructions on how to join so if you are not a member of these communication methods please contact Mr. Raney at: draney@madison.k12.al.us

Definitions

  • Rookies – Students marching for the first time with Sparkman Band. (Freshman & Transfers)
  • Wind Players (Winds)– All students that play woodwind and brass instruments.
  • Competition Band – Wind players that have passed evaluation, alternates, percussion, and 10-12 Guard.
  • Marching Band – All band students. (winds, percussion, guard, EVERYONE)

Schedules By Membership


Rookies and Marching Band Only Wind Players

  • July 10:  3pm-4:30pm school owned instrument checkout.
  • July 12-16:  Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch provided.  10-12 grade Marching Band Only students will arrive at 1pm on Monday and Tuesday.
  • July 27: 6pm-7:30pm rehearsal
  • July 29: 5:30pm-6:30pm
  • July 29: Parent Preview at 7pm. Students will perform for friends, parents and community.
  • Aug 4: First day of school.  
  • Aug 5 +: After school rehearsals will take place for Marching Band students each Thursday from 3:45pm-4:30pm after school until the end of marching season.
  • Aug 20: First Game.  All game times start at 7pm. Times listed on the calendar are call times for students. Students are required to attend all football games each week through October, plus any playoff games.

Competition Band Wind Players

  • July 7: 1pm-3pm school owned instrument pickup (Competition Band ONLY)
  • July 10:  3pm-4:30pm school owned instrument checkout. (Marching Band and Makeup Competition Band)
  • July 12-14:
    • 8am-11am: Marching Techniques/Body (Be physically prepared)
    • 11am-1pm: Lunch NOT provided.
    • 1pm-5pm: Marching Band Playing Sectionals/Rehearsals
  • July 15-16: 8am-5pm Marching Band Camp (Lunch Provided)
  • July 19,21,23: Competition Band Camp (8am-5pm) (Lunch Provided)
  • July 20, 22:
    • 8am-11am: Marching/Drill
    • 11am-1pm: Lunch NOT provided
    • 1pm-4pm: Sectionals/Playing Reheasals/Drill
    • 4pm-6pm: Supper Break (NOT Provided)
