2017 Summer Announcements

The Sparkman Band is preparing for another great season in 2017.  Please read the following links and schedule carefully.  Schedules are posted below according to the student’s assignment within the band.

Definitions

  • Rookies – Students marching for the first time with Sparkman Band. (mostly freshman)
  • Winds – All woodwind and brass instruments.
  • Competition Band – Wind players that have passed evaluation, alternates, percussion, and 10-12 Guard.
  • Marching Band – All band students. (winds, percussion and guard)

Schedules By Membership


Rookies and Marching Band Only Wind Players

  • July 10-14:  Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch provided.  10-12 grade Marching Band Only students will follow the schedule of Competition Band for this week.
  • July 25 &27: 6pm-8pm rehearsal
  • Aug 1: 5pm-6pm rehearsal
  • Aug 1: Parent Preview at 7pm. Students will perform for friends, parents and community.
  • Aug 2: First day of school.  After school rehearsals will take place for Marching Band students each Thursday from 4pm-5:30pm after school until the end of marching season.
  • Sept 1: First Game.  All game times start at 7pm. Times listed on the calendar are call times for students. Students are required to attend all football games each week through October, plus any playoff games. The game on Oct 6 is optional for all Marching Band Only students but required for all Competition Band students.

Competition Band Wind Players

  • July 6: Section leader meetings (1pm-3pm)
  • July 10-11: Marching Band Camp (1pm-5pm)
  • July 12-14: Marching Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch Provided
  • July 17-20: Competition Band Camp (8-12 & 4-8) Lunch is on your own.
  • July 21: Competition Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch Provided
  • July 25&27: Competition and Marching Band Rehearsal (4pm-8pm)
  • Aug 1: Competition and Marching Band Rehearsal (4pm-6pm)
  • Aug 1: Parent Preview Performance (7pm)
  • Aug 2: First day of school.  After school rehearsals will take place for Competition Band students each Monday and Tuesday from 3:30pm-5:00pm after school with a Marching Band rehearsal on Thursday from 4pm-5:30pm.
