Week 3 vs. Albertville

This week will be our second away game at Albertville High School. With hurricane Ida heading our way, we expect plenty of rain at the beginning of the week and may find ourselves having to alter our rehearsal schedule for this week.

We are working on finding enough bus drivers to take us to the game on Friday night. The band will not be able to leave until the bus drivers have finished running their routes so we will most likely arrive late to the game. The final schedule for Friday will be updated when all drivers have been secured.

The administration has worked extremely hard to find bus drivers for our trip this Friday but was NOT able to find enough to take the band (or even part of the band) to the game this Friday night; therefore, THE BAND WILL NOT ATTEND THE AWAY GAME THIS WEEK. We hope this travel issue with bus drivers is temporary and we will continue to plan for the remaining away games as usual.

Since we have an open night and we missed the Tuesday after school rehearsal with Competition Band, we will add an after school rehearsal this Friday from 3:45pm to 5:00pm for the Competition Band ONLY. We will continue to work towards preparing for our first Marching Band Competition coming up on September 25th. We have also re-adjusted the Thursday schedule to end at 5:30pm. Please check the schedule below for the changes.

  • 3:30pm – 4:30pm: Percussion Sectional
• Tuesday – SCHOOL CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER
  • 3:45pm – 5:00pm: Competition Band Rehearsal Cancelled due to potential severe weather.
  • 3:45pm – 5:00pm: Percussion rehearsal (will evaluate closer to Tuesday before cancelling)
• Wednesday
  • 3:45pm – 5:30pm: Competition Guard Sectional
• Thursday
  • 3:45pm – 4:45pm: Marching Band Rehearsal (extended again this week)
  • 4:45pm – 5:30pm: Competition Band Rehearsal
  • 5:45pm: Stage Percussion & Equipment Truck
• Friday
  • 3:45pm – 5:00pm: Competition Band Rehearsal
  • 4:30pm: Call Time (These times are estimated and will most likely change throughout the week)
  • 5:00pm: TRAVEL TO ALBERTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL (we will NOT stop and eat on the way)
  • 6:30pm: Arrive at Albertville HS. Dress into full uniform on the bus before we arrive. 
  • 7:00pm: Gametime
  • 9:45pm: Estimated end of game
  • 10:15pm: Departe for SHS
  • 11:45pm: ETA SHS (Updates on arrival times will be sent to students throughout the travel home through remind/email and on our social media accounts)

Away Game Procedures

We will follow our standard travel procedures this week. Thanks to everyone for following proper procedures last week as it really helps facilitate smooth operations of the band.

This week we will be on school buses. School buses will provide less capacity seating; however, we should be able to use the same bus assignments.

Equipment

We will load and travel with our equipment in the same manner as last week with exception to the wind instruments. All wind instruments will be stored on the equipment truck this week.
