This week the band will travel to their first away game of the season and the first bus trip in a LONG time. We will have a lot of new parent helpers that have never travelled with the band; therefore, please take extra time to be prepared for the activities this week by reading the information below very carefully. Patience with any last minute changes would also be appreciated.

- 3:30pm – 4:30pm: Percussion Sectional
- Tuesday
- 3:45pm – 5:00pm: Competition Band Rehearsal
- Wednesday
- 3:45pm – 5:30pm: Competition Guard Sectional
- Thursday
- 3:45pm – 4:45pm: Marching Band Rehearsal (extended again this week)
- 4:45pm – 5:30pm: Competition Band Rehearsal
- Friday
- 11:50am (HS A Lunch): 3rd Block Competition Winds eat lunch as usual. Percussion will go to HS Lunch Room, grab and go to the auditorium to eat.
- 12:23pm (HS B Lunch): All 10-12 grade Guard & Marching Band students that usually eat C or D lunch should eat B Lunch, grab and go to Auditorium.
- 12:29pm (9th grade 3rd Lunch): All 9th graders that normally eat 4th lunch will grab and go to HS Auditorium to eat.
- 1:00pm: Guard/Marching Band/Chaperone Call Time (Chaperones park in the S9 top parking lot. Students will change into their uniform bibbers, black shoes, black socks, gloves)
- 1:40pm: Load Bus when signaled from director. All students should be wearing: Band Shirt, Bibbers, Black Socks, Marching Shoes, Black Gloves with uniform bags and shako boxes in hand.
- 2:00pm: Depart SHS & TRAVEL TO HOOVER GALLERIA
- 4:00pm-5:00pm: Eat in the foodcourt of the Galleria (Bring money for meal)
- 5:00pm: TRAVEL TO THOMPSON HS
- 5:30pm: Arrive at Thompson HS and prepare for game. Dress into full uniform on the bus.
- 6:30pm: March into stadium
- 7:00pm: Gametime
- 9:45pm: Estimated end of game
- 10:15pm: Departe THS & TRAVEL TO SHS
- 12:45am: ETA SHS (Updates on arrival times will be sent to students throughout the travel home through remind/email and on our social media accounts)
Away Game Procedures
Please read all the details concerning Travel Procedures by CLICKING HERE. Here are a few of the most important aspects of travel procedures for this week:
- Checkout Procedures: Checking out after the game is permitted; however, we ask that you only check out if it is a special circumstance. (not just because someone doesn’t want to ride on a bus) The checkout process can not prevent the band from leaving an event on time.
- Checkout Authority: ONLY parent or legal guardians may checkout any student and must be present at the time of checkout. We can not release students to anyone other than legal guardians with a note.
- Uniform Procedures: Students will report to the band room at call time (released from their class) and change into their Bibbers, Shoes, etc… just as if they were arriving to a regular home game. Students will get their uniform bag and shako box and take it to the bus. Students will NOT dress into their uniform before they get on the bus but will put on their jackets and Shakos when they arrive at the game.
- Masks: Must wear masks on the bus. Masks are optional when you are not on the bus.
Equipment
- Equipment Truck Staging: The equipment truck is scheduled to stage at the HS Band room on Thursday afternoon in preparation to be loaded throughout the day on Friday.
- Instrument Staging/Storage: On typical away games the wind instruments will be stored on the equipment truck; however, since we are taking charter buses we will store all wind instruments in the bays under the section assigned bus.
- Uniforms: Uniforms will be properly stored in the compartments overhead on the bus.
Bus Assignments
Thanks to our principal, Mr. Shaw, the band will travel on charter buses this Friday to Thompson HS. Charter buses will allow us more room in a MUCH more comfortable environment for such a long trip.
