Audition Schedule
SIP 2016 Audition sign-ups are now closed.
November 9th 4:00-6:30 in the Sparkman 9th Grade School Cafeteria
All students auditioning for a marching spot must complete a standard marching left box 8 drill (all tendu step) with no obliques, as well as demonstrate a demi plie, grand plie, tendu across the floor, and ronde de jambe. Please view this video for demonstrations of the aforementioned positions/moves.
Marching Tom Audition (flubs)
Mallet Audition (for students auditioning for any of the following instruments: xylo, vibes, marimba, rack bells, rack chimes)
Marimba Etude (in addition to the mallet audition; play to the release of the dotted half note rolls)
Vibraphone Etude (in addition to the mallet audition; play from “moderato” until first double bar of last line)
Rack Percussion Audition (if you are interested in playing bells or chimes as a rack percussionist, you must also perform the mallet audition)
Bass Synth/Bass Guitar Audition
*Visual Ensemble Audition (dancers) – See below.
*Visual Ensemble auditionees should prepare a 30 second dance solo in a ballet/lyrical style with appropriate music. The audition should highlight your movement skills as well as any other technical dance skills that you possess. You will also be required to demonstrate the following positions/moves after your prepared solo: demi plie, grand plie, battement tendu, battement dégagé. Please view this video for demonstrations of the aforementioned positions/moves. You will also be asked to perform tendu across the floors while displaying different character/mood/emotion.
