Home Game against Austin HS (10/05) – Band Day
Our home game on October 4 against Austin will also be Band Day.
We will host the Monrovia Middle School and Sparkman Middle School 8th grade band members as they get a taste of high school band!
The Sign Up Genius for this week’s game is now available. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4caeac2cabfa7-oct04shs
Trombones – it’s your turn to volunteer for the concession stand!
Additional slots are available to help with feeding the visiting 8th graders and our high school band students.
Next Week – Away Game at Bob Jones (Fall Break Week)
Snacks are needed for the buses for this game. Since it will be Fall Break, we will collect snacks and drinks this week on Thursday at S9 after practice.
Please consider bringing 12oz Gatorade bottles and salty snacks (no peanuts or peanut butter).
Penny Wars
The results are in – – – and a BIG Congratulations to the TROMBONES and BARITONES!!!
The Trombones and Baritones are the winners of the first ever Sparkman Band Penny Wars.
It was amazing to see these students get so involved in a fundraiser. And through their combined efforts, we raised over $2,700! We are so proud of every student and parent who helped make this a success.
To celebrate, the winning sections are invited to a brief ice cream party on Thursday, October 3rd after their respective practice.
So Marching students will come to the S9 cafeteria from 4:30-5:00. And we will serve the Competition students from 5:30-6:00.
Thanks again for your support, and start saving that change for next year!
Fruit Sales
Fruit Sales begin on Tuesday, October 1st. The informational packets will be in the band rooms for the students to pick up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
We realize that Tuesday is an e-Learning Day, and many students might not be in class, so we’ll also have the packets at practice that afternoon. All of the information along with extra order forms and brochures will be available on the band website as well.
So look for an email on Tuesday morning with more details and links to that information.
And remember, unlike other fundraisers, the profit from these sales goes directly into each individual student’s account!
Guard Schedule this week
Monday, September 30 – Guard members and their parents run the concession stand for the JV football game starting at 5:30 pm.
Wednesday, October 2 – Competition Guard costume fittings during practice. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we finalize the measurements and fittings for the competition show!

Uniform News
Mud and Cleaning Uniforms
It was surprising to see how much of Homecoming’s red mud remains on shoes and bibber legs.
When washing bibbers, please take a moment and check for dried mud. Of course, no bleach of any kind should be used, but any gentle stain remover and/or soft brush can help loosen those spots before running them through a cold wash with gentle detergent and hanging them up to dry.
Please check and gently scrub, wipe, or rinse off any remaining red dirt from your marching shoes, as well—even from the grooves in the soles.
Uniform Washing
All jackets and gauntlets will be washed before we head into Competition Season.
Volunteers will machine wash 5-10 jackets and/or corresponding gauntlets. We will distribute these with instructions, the appropriate detergent pods, and hangers, then collect the clean, dry, and hung items within a few days of the distribution.
We plan to start this process after the October 11 (Fall Break) Game. If you are interested in participating in this effort, please email Misty Jackman ([email protected]).
