Tomorrow, September 14, 2020, Sparkman HS will begin in-person instruction. In an effort to help with this complex process, please refer to the guidance below.
Definitions
The following is a list of students as defined by the band and may not represent the name given to students by the school or school system.
- Full Virtual – Students that are ONLY virtual. These students have not participated in-person for any rehearsals and do not plan to do so.
- Virtual – Students that attend rehearsals and games but are not planning to attend other classes besides band.
- In-Person – Students that plan to attend all classes in school in addition to band.
- Special Cases – A few students do not meet any of the above criteria. These students will continue with the plan that was discussed with Mr. Raney.
Full Virtual
All full virtual students will continue instruction as before but with additional class meeting times. A live stream of the classroom instruction may be included daily after the first week of in person instruction.
Virtual
Students arriving to school only for band rehearsal may enter the outside band room entrance (See Map) at the beginning of class time and must leave campus after band class is over. (exception for Marching Band students for Thursday after school rehearsal)
First Week (9/14 – 9/18)
All Virtual students will only attend school on the designated days according to their last name. Starting on 9/21, all Virtual students will attend band class daily.
- A-K = Monday, Tuesday (No instruments on Monday)
- L-Z = Thursday, Friday.
Arrival Times
Students should arrive at the beginning of their block except for 3rd block students. 3rd block students will arrive after 1st lunch. CLICK HERE for the official bell schedule.
In Person
All students must enter and exit the building in the same manner as the rest of the school. The band room’s back door will be locked in the mornings and students must enter the band room through the school building.
First Week (9/14 – 9/18)
All band students will attend school according to the school schedule:
- A-K = Monday, Tuesday (Marching Band no instruments on Monday)
- L-Z = Thursday, Friday.
Classroom Arrangements
Because we have plenty of room in our new band room, students will remain 6ft apart during inside instruction. Each student will be assigned a specific location in the band room they will report to each day. These procedures will be discussed during the first week of school. Students will NOT bring their instrument to school on Monday. All instruments must have bell covers to play inside.
After School Rehearsals
We have a change in Marching Band rehearsal times starting this Thursday. September 22, will begin the new regular after school rehearsals.
