2019 Summer Announcements

The Sparkman Band is preparing for another great season in 2019.  Please read the following links and schedule carefully.  Schedules are posted below according to the student’s assignment within the band.

Definitions

  • Rookies – Students marching for the first time with Sparkman Band. (mostly freshman)
  • Winds – All woodwind and brass instruments.
  • Competition Band – Wind players that have passed evaluation, alternates, percussion, and 10-12 Guard.
  • Marching Band – All band students. (winds, percussion and guard)

Schedules By Membership


Rookies and Marching Band Only Wind Players

  • July 11:  3pm-4:30pm school owned instrument checkout.
  • July 15-19:  Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch provided.  10-12 grade Marching Band Only students will arrive at 1pm on Monday and Tuesday.
  • July 30 & Aug 1: 6pm-8pm rehearsal
  • Aug 6: 5pm-6pm rehearsal
  • Aug 6: Parent Preview at 7pm. Students will perform for friends, parents and community.
  • Aug 7: First day of school.  After school rehearsals will take place for Marching Band students each Thursday from 3:45pm-4:30pm after school until the end of marching season.
  • Aug 30: First Game.  All game times start at 7pm. Times listed on the calendar are call times for students. Students are required to attend all football games each week through October, plus any playoff games.

Competition Band Wind Players

  • July 11: Section leader meetings (1pm-3pm)
  • July 11:  3pm-4:30pm school owned instrument checkout.
  • July 15-19: Marching Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch provided. Monday-Tuesday 8am-12pm will be Competition Band Body Camp. (be physically prepared)
  • July 22-25: Competition Band Camp (8-12 & 4-8) Lunch is on your own.
  • July 26: Competition Band Camp (8am-5pm) Lunch Provided
  • July 30 & Aug 1: Competition and Marching Band Rehearsal (4pm-8pm)
  • Aug 6: Competition and Marching Band Rehearsal (4pm-6pm)
  • Aug 6: Parent Preview Performance (7pm)
  • Aug 7: First day of school.  After school rehearsals will take place for Competition Band students each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45pm-5:30pm after school.
  • Aug 30: First Game.  All game times start at 7pm. Times listed on the calendar are call times for students. Students are required to attend all football games each week through October, plus any playoff games.

  • May 30, June 6 & 13: Sectionals (3pm – 4:30pm)
  • June 24-25: Mini-Camp (8am-5pm)
  • July 15-19: Percussion Camp (8am-5pm)
  • July 22,24: Competition Band Camp (8am-12pm, 4pm-8pm)
  • July 23,25: Competition Band Camp (8am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 4pm-8pm)
  • July 26: Competition Band Camp (8am-5pm)
  • July 30 & Aug 1: Competition and Marching Band Rehearsal (4pm-8pm)
